Before Your First K18 Treatments Appointment: What to Expect and How to Prep
By Salon Greco The European Day Spa | August 3, 2026
One reason first-timers relax fast here is that our stylists actually take extra time to consult you and protect your hair’s integrity, even when you walk in wanting something big. If you’re nervous about k18 treatments, that’s normal. Most people don’t want surprises with their hair, and you shouldn’t have to guess what’s happening or why. A K18 Treatment is straightforward: we apply it to clean, towel-dried hair, let it activate for 4 minutes, and we leave it in. The in-salon part usually takes 10 to 20 minutes including shampooing and application, and the full appointment is often 30 minutes, especially if you add a quick blow-dry.
Quick reassurance: No heat is required and nothing should hurt. This is a repair step for hair that’s feeling stretched-out, rough, or hard to style after color, heat, or just living through Suwanee humidity.
3 simple ways to prep for a K18 repair treatment (and what to tell us)
Keep your prep easy. If you come in with a lot of oils, heavy leave-ins, or dry shampoo build-up, we’ll just shampoo first so the K18 can actually do its job. Most of the time, that quick wash is already part of the plan, so you don’t need to overthink it.
- Skip heavy products that day. Light conditioner on your ends is fine, but avoid coating your hair with thick oils or masks before you come in.
- Bring your “why.” Tell us what you’re noticing: breakage around the hairline, mushy ends when wet, frizz that won’t quit, or hair that tangles if you look at it wrong. That helps your stylist decide if K18 is the right move today.
- Tell us about recent chemical services. Color, bleach, relaxers, perms, and toners all matter. We’re big on honesty in the chair and protecting your hair, even if it means slowing down a bigger plan.
Local tip for Suwanee: On those hot, sticky summer days, try not to schedule K18 right before a long outdoor stretch at Town Center Park or the Suwanee Creek Greenway. Sweat and heat right after any hair service can make your hair feel rougher than it needs to.
The K18 Treatment timeline in our chairs: shampoo, 4 minutes, then done
When you arrive, we’ll do a quick check-in about what your hair’s been through. We’re used to people coming in with a goal and some frustration, like brassy blondes, hot roots, or hair that’s been overprocessed somewhere else. That’s exactly why we talk things through before we start. You’ll never get rushed into something that doesn’t make sense for your hair.
Step 1: A quick shampoo on clean, simple hair
We start with clean hair because product build-up can block repair. Then we towel-dry. K18 goes on damp hair, not dripping wet.
Step 2: K18 application and the 4-minute activation
Your stylist applies the K18 and sets a timer for 4 minutes. That part matters. No heat, no tingling, no “burning means it’s working” nonsense. You’ll just sit and let it activate.
Step 3: We leave it in, then style if you want
K18 is left in, not rinsed. If you’re combining this with another service, plan on 30 to 45 minutes total so we have time for a quick finish. A lot of our Suwanee Town Center and Buford Dam Road corridor clients love this because it’s a real fix that doesn’t turn into a half-day appointment.

After your K18 Treatment: what you’ll notice today, and what improves over days
A lot of people feel a difference right away. Hair often feels smoother when you run your fingers through it, and it tends to behave better when you style. The bigger win usually shows up over the next few days as your hair holds up better to brushing and heat styling.
Aftercare is simple, but it matters:
Keep it low-stress for 24 hours. We generally recommend skipping swimming and heavy sweating right after, especially in humid Suwanee summers.
Hold off on protein overload. K18 is repair-focused. Piling on strong protein treatments right away can make some hair feel stiff. If you’re unsure, ask us what your hair needs next.
Be realistic about “very damaged.” If your hair is snapping, gummy when wet, or feels thin through the ends, you may need more than one session to see a big difference.
If you’re also thinking about frizz control, ask us about Keratin Express Treatment ($125). It’s a different service than K18, and it’s great when manageability is the main issue.
How many K18 treatments you’ll need (and how we plan it with you)
We don’t guess. We look at how your hair stretches, how it feels wet, what your ends are doing, and what you’re trying to do next. If you’re working toward lighter color, we take the same approach people mention in reviews: we protect the hair first and build a plan that keeps integrity front and center.
Some people feel a noticeable improvement after one visit. Hair that’s been bleached, heat-styled daily, or repeatedly toned often needs a few K18 sessions spaced between other services. And if your goal is length, K18 helps by improving elasticity and manageability, not by magically replacing inches that already broke off.

A few insider notes for first-timers in the Suwanee Town Center area
If you’re driving in from Sugar Hill, Buford, Duluth, Johns Creek, or Norcross, K18 is one of those services that makes sense for a busy schedule. It’s quick, it’s low-fuss, and it pairs well with color maintenance when you’re trying to keep your hair strong between bigger appointments.
Here’s the part that matters, and it’s something our long-time regulars bring up again and again. We’ll tell you the truth about what your hair can handle. People come to us after someone promised “no damage” and delivered breakage. We’d rather say “not today” than take you down a road you’ll regret.
Ready to keep it simple?
Book your K18 Treatment (starting at $55, about 30 minutes) when you want your hair to feel stronger and behave better without turning your day upside down. If you’re already planning a stop near Town Center Park or the Suwanee Creek Greenway, we can time it so you leave with hair that feels light, not weighed down.
